Baptism Service May 3rd
I’m so excited that you’re interested in being baptized here at Summit! On the far right, you will find some information on what we at Horizons Church believe about baptism as well as what is symbolizes.
This is a big step in your faith journey and milestone to be remembered. I ask that you think it over carefully to make sure you’re ready. Baptism is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus, and not something to take lightly.
If you do decide you’re ready then we would love to have you participate in our baptism service on May 3rd! Please have a parent email JD at the email below to sign you up.
I’m excited that your student has shown interest in being baptized! If you’re not sure what baptism is or what is symbolizes, please look over the far right column titled What Baptism Symbolizes.
Being baptized is a significant milestone in your student’s faith journey and one to be celebrated! If you choose to allow your student to be baptized, feel free to join us during the service on May 3rd at 6:30pm! Also, family and friends that would like to witness the event are more than welcome to join us for the evening as well.
Please email JD at firstname.lastname@example.org to register your student to be baptized. We will only baptize your student if you give us permission.
// WHAT BAPTISM SYMBOLIZES
Baptism is a way of showing others that you have entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ. It symbolizes what took place in your heart at the time of salvation:
1. Accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
2. Shared in His death and resurrection, illustrated by going under the water (dead to your old life), then rising again (new life).
3. Symbolically washed clean, and our sins were forgiven by His death on the cross.
Because Jesus instructed us to be baptized, baptism is an act of obedience. While it is not necessary for salvation, it demonstrates submission to God. We immerse at Horizons Church because we believe Scripture shows that Jesus modeled that for us as the way to publicly acknowledge our faith in Him.
Please bring a towel, dark tshirt and shorts for the baptism as well as a change of clothes for after.
You will be asked 3 questions before being baptized. 1. Do you profess Jesus is Lord of your life? 2. With God’s help do you intend to obey Jesus teachings and follow as your Lord? 3. Why have you chosen to be baptized today?
Fill out the Baptism form so a Certificate of Baptism can be mailed to you.
